How to report
Email abuse@fdosoftware.com. We read every report and we reply to every report that contains enough information to act on.
- The IP address involved.
- Timestamps, with the time zone. Without a time zone we often cannot match a log entry.
- Relevant log excerpts or headers, unedited.
- What you believe is happening, and a contact address for follow-up.
What we do
We acknowledge reports within one business day. We investigate against our own logs rather than taking a report at face value, because reports are sometimes mistaken and occasionally malicious.
Where we confirm active harm, we suspend immediately. Where the issue is likely a compromised or misconfigured server rather than a deliberate act — which is the common case — we contact the customer with a deadline to fix it and verify the fix before closing the report.
We tell the reporter the outcome. We do not disclose customer identity to a reporter; a valid legal order is the route for that.
Copyright complaints
Send a notice containing: your contact details; identification of the work you say is infringed; the URL or IP where the material sits; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; a statement that the information is accurate and that you are authorised to act; and your signature.
We forward valid notices to the customer and require removal within a stated period. Where the customer submits a counter-notice we will pass it back to you, and the dispute is then between you and them.
Law enforcement
We respond to lawful requests from competent authorities. We require the request to be properly issued and to identify what is sought; we do not disclose customer data on an informal request.
Unless legally prohibited, we tell the customer that a request was made, so they have an opportunity to respond.
Bad-faith reports
Reports submitted to harass a customer or to gain commercial advantage are not acted on, and repeat senders are blocked.
